Redemption Church gets a website makeover and it is a good one! From the beginning, working with Robbey at Redemption Church was great. He was open to our design ideas and concepts and really has a heart to reach outside of his walls into the community and the hurting people around them. We were very excited about this website project and the neat design options we used.
Working with ReachRight was informative, simple, and fun. A few months back I ask Ian to evaluate our website, his insight was spot on and our website traffic was minimal. In the first-month web traffic increased 150%, 54% more people asked for directions. More importantly, when someone visits our site, they know who we are and what we are about before visiting. Let this ministry make a difference in your ministry. – Robbey Smith, Pastor
Fonts
Which fonts you chose to use can be a daunting task, but a very important one. Certain fonts are more appealing to the eyes, can come across as too playful or serious, are too thick, too small or even too spaced out. There are many font options out there to choose from and sometimes that can be a guessing game for a designer. The fonts we chose to go with for Redemption were perfect. Robby and his team loved them so much, that they are using that font on their print and on other areas of their church media. Fonts can tell a story and put off their own personalities, so you want to make sure that is the correct vibe you want to give off.
Bold Patterns and Colors
Using bold visuals on your website can be overwhelming at first thought. When we showed Robbey the color palette we put together for his church, he was a little hesitant. Orange, greys and white – those may not have looked so great at first, but when the website came together with those colors, he was shocked and pleased. Using softer tones with pops of loud color make a stand and allow for those accents to show through. You can make simple text stand out and small graphics dance whereas using black and white doesn’t have the same effect.
Online Giving
I know, you may think this is an area to be overlooked or passed up, but Robbey will tell you otherwise. Redemption has a great testimony regarding online giving. His church is in a smaller community of Illinois where tithing is not something that a lot of the community can ‘afford’ to do. Adding online giving to the website opened up a whole new door for them. Online giving options allow for members to give outside of Sunday service. It removes the pressure off when they can do it at home, online and maybe not with the pressures of doing it in the church building. It allows for members to give when they get paid; Robbey says that the majority of his members give on Thursday or Fridays after payday. Another reason he says – he has members that go out of town or on vacations- when they miss church, are they making up the tithe next week? Most of them didn’t, but allowing the online giving, they can give anytime as often as they are led and even if they miss church service. His giving increased so much, that he has been talking to other pastors in the area about how important it is to offer online giving.
Reading stories like that, how can you pass up on such an opportunity not only for your ministry, but for your members? It is a joy to give and allowing people more than one opportunity a week to do so helps.
