Groeschel was born on December 2, 1967, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma City University on a tennis scholarship and later earned a Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa. Under his leadership, Life.Church launched the first fully digital church experience in 2006 and released the YouVersion Bible app in 2008, now one of the most downloaded Bible apps in history.
