Mar Mari Emmanuel is bishop and pastor of Christ The Good Shepherd Church, an Assyrian Orthodox congregation he established in Wakeley, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, in 2015.
Born Robert Shlimon on July 19, 1970, in Habbaniyah, Iraq, Emmanuel immigrated to Australia as a child and grew up in Sydney's western suburbs. He was ordained a priest in 2009 and a bishop in 2011, originally within the Assyrian Church of the East, before founding an independent congregation following a 2014 doctrinal split. His YouTube and TikTok presence, active since 2021, earned him the nickname "TikTok Bishop." On April 15, 2024, he survived a stabbing attack during a livestreamed service at his church.
