Parsley was born January 13, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio. He founded the church in 1977 as Word of Life Church, starting with 17 people in his parents' backyard; it grew into World Harvest Church. He has written more than 50 books and study guides, including the New York Times bestseller "Culturally Incorrect," "Silent No More," and "The Cross: One Man, One Tree, One Friday," released in 2013. He also founded the Center for Moral Clarity, the Breakthrough media ministry, Bridge of Hope missions, and Harvest Preparatory School.
