Calvary Church

Calvary Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the church Skip Heitzig started as a four-person apartment Bible study in 1982. Heitzig trained under Chuck Smith at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and the Albuquerque plant became one of the fastest-growing churches in America by the late 1980s, passing 6,000 members by 1990. Today it ranks among the largest churches in the country, with weekly attendance reported around 16,000 or more. Heitzig still leads it, and his verse-by-verse teaching remains the product.

Calvary's digital footprint totals 346,460 followers across three platforms, and YouTube carries almost all of it. The @CalvaryABQ channel holds 301,000 subscribers, up 9.85 percent in the past year, with uploads as recent as June 8. Facebook adds 27,000 followers and Instagram adds 18,460. There is no TikTok account. That is an 87 percent YouTube concentration, one of the most lopsided platform splits anywhere in the top 50 of the index.

Expository teaching ages well on YouTube because people search for specific books and passages years after upload, and Calvary has four decades of material to feed that machine.
