The Pastor's Refuge

Fate, Texas

"Moments to Rest, ReFocus, and ReEngage"

The Pastor's Refuge exists because 42% of pastoral leaders report burnout, and founders Chris and Tracy Binion decided to do something about it. They host free four-day retreats where pastors fish, golf, shoot trap, or just sleep, all funded by donors, with a goal of serving 2,000 leaders by 2028. Their website has to speak to two audiences at once: the exhausted pastor and the donor who sends them.

What we built

One website, two very different visitors.

An exhausted pastor needs to find a retreat and reserve a spot without friction. A donor needs to see the mission and fund it. Every page on this site serves one of those two people, and neither one gets lost on the way.

Retreat Directory

Six retreat properties from a Texas ranch to the Tennessee mountains to Halibut Cove, Alaska, each with its own page and a Reserve Now path. Pastors pick the setting that fits how they rest.

Rest, ReFocus, ReEngage Pathway

The ministry's three-phase framework gets a page per phase, so a pastor understands the whole journey before committing: unstructured rest first, guided refocusing second, resources to re-enter ministry third.

Reservation & Contact Form

One form with a retreat-interest dropdown covering every property. A pastor running on fumes doesn't hunt for the right email address. Name, state, which retreat, done.

Encounter Connections

The retreat isn't the end. Guests join virtual small groups of 6 to 8 leaders that meet monthly for four months afterward. The site explains the rhythm so pastors know the support keeps going.

Donor Give Page

Every retreat is free for the pastor because someone else paid for it. The Give page makes that math visible with a campaign to fund 500 retreat scholarships under one banner: “Help Leaders Live Well and Finish Strong.”

“Kind Words” Testimonials

Real pastors from real churches saying what a retreat did for them. When your audience is skeptical of anything free, the most persuasive voice is a peer who already went.

Design highlights

Built to feel like a deep breath.

Pastors arrive at this site running on empty. The design gets out of the way: big skies, still water, short sentences, and one clear button per page.

Mission as navigation

The three-phase framework is literally the menu: Rest, ReFocus, ReEngage

Minimal 7-item nav

About, Rest, ReFocus, ReEngage, Retreats, Contact, Give. Nothing extra.
